CHIME Preschool Inclusion Program

The CHIME Institute Preschool Inclusion Program is unique in its provision of a multidisciplinary, developmentally appropriate programming and support for inclusion in a general education setting for children with disabilities.

The Program is certified by the California Department of Education as a Nonpublic Agency (NPA) and contracts with LAUSD. It operates at the California State University, Northridge Child and Family Studies Center, a study and research organization accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and licensed by the California Department of Social Services. Special features include:
  • Developmentally appropriate interventions and therapies embedded within typical early childhood classroom settings and activities
  • Emphasis on natural social and communication skills practice with peers
  • Individualized instructional techniques and approach to classroom modifications planning


CHIME Infant and Toddler Program

The Infant/Toddler Program, vendored through the North Los Angeles County Regional Center, serves children from birth to age 3 who are eligible for early intervention services through the California Early Start Program (IDEA Part C) under the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and their families. Early intervention services include developmentally appropriate intervention and therapies based on each child’s individual needs.

Program options include Home Visit and Center-based parent participation programs as well as an Assessment Clinic. Supported by highly qualified staff, children and families learn how to incorporate skills learned in the program into their home and community environments. Special features include:
  • Multidisciplinary assessment, program planning, and evaluation by a team of highly qualified credentialed and licensed professionals.
  • Emphasis on play and positive social interactions in natural environments with peers without disabilities.
  • Welcoming environments and family support.

2/1 CHIME Safe Schools Plan: As directed by the State of California, CHIME has developed and posted its Safe Schools Plan (including the COVID-19 School Checklist and Cal/OSHA CCCP) on its website in preparation for in-person school reopening when it is allowed by state and local officials.
